The BGO Boa Caridina is one of the most striking and prestigious selectively bred shrimp available. Known for its bold “boa” patterning — intricate spots, stripes, and often metallic highlights that resemble snake scales — this variety is the result of years of careful Taiwan Bee line breeding. With deep base colours and dazzling contrast, each individual BGO Boa is truly one-of-a-kind, making it a prized addition for serious Caridina collectors.

Care & Behaviour
BGO Boa Caridina require stable, soft, and slightly acidic water conditions. They thrive best in species-only setups or with other Caridina of similar requirements. A mature, planted tank with mosses and natural surfaces encourages grazing and helps juveniles thrive. These shrimp are peaceful and do best in calm, carefully maintained aquascapes.

Parameters

  • Temperature: 20–24°C

  • pH: 5.5–6.5

  • GH: 4–6 dGH

  • KH: 0–1

  • TDS: 100–160 ppm

  • Tank size: 20L minimum, larger preferred for colony stability

Diet
Feed a balanced diet of specialised shrimp foods, blanched vegetables, and naturally occurring biofilm. Occasional protein or mineral-rich foods support breeding and moulting but should be used sparingly to avoid water quality issues.

Breeding
Breeding BGO Boa Caridina is possible under optimal conditions but can be challenging due to their sensitivity. Females typically carry eggs for 28–32 days, and successful hatching requires a stable, mature environment. Fry survival improves with abundant biofilm and excellent water stability.

Livestock Disclaimer
Shrimp are sold unsexed and shipped as mixed batches. We cannot guarantee sex ratios or exact patterning — natural variation between individuals and lines is normal. Please acclimate carefully; we cannot accept responsibility for losses caused by improper acclimation or unsuitable tank conditions.
