The Dwarf Rasbora is a tiny, colourful schooling fish, renowned for its striking red-orange body and bold black spot near the tail. Its miniature size and peaceful behaviour make it perfect for nano and heavily planted aquariums.

Origin:
Native to Southeast Asia, particularly the slow-moving streams, peat swamps, and floodplains of Borneo, Sumatra, and Malaysia, these fish thrive in soft, acidic waters with dense vegetation.

Behaviour & Tank Role:

  • Extremely peaceful; best kept in groups of 8–12 to show natural schooling behaviour.

  • Mid-to-top dwelling; ideal for nano tanks, planted aquariums, and shrimp setups.

  • Excellent community fish for other small, non-aggressive species.

Care Requirements:

  • Tank Size: 20L+ for a small school.

  • Temperature: 22–28°C

  • pH: 5.5–7.0

  • GH: 1–8 dGH

  • TDS: 50–150 ppm

  • Provide a heavily planted tank with gentle water flow and floating plants for cover.

Feeding:
Omnivorous: accept finely crushed flakes, micro pellets, live and frozen foods such as daphnia, baby brine shrimp, and mosquito larvae. Feed in small amounts several times daily, removing uneaten food to maintain water quality.

Breeding Tips:

  • Egg scatterers; they deposit tiny eggs among fine-leaved plants or spawning mops.

  • Eggs hatch in 2–3 days, and fry should be fed infusoria or liquid fry food, then graduated to baby brine shrimp.

  • A species-only breeding tank with soft, slightly acidic water improves fry survival.

Why Choose Dwarf Rasboras?
Their small size, vivid coloration, and active schooling behaviour make Dwarf Rasboras ideal for nano, planted, and community aquariums. They are hardy, captivating, and perfect for aquarists looking for miniature, peaceful fish.
