The Pinocchio Shrimp, also known as the Red Nose Shrimp, is a fascinating and unique freshwater species recognised for its distinct elongated rostrum (“nose”) and semi-transparent body with a reddish hue. These active and hardy shrimp are excellent algae grazers, making them both a functional and eye-catching addition to community aquariums.

Key Features:

  • Distinctive long rostrum and transparent red-toned body.

  • Excellent algae grazers that help maintain a clean aquarium.

  • Peaceful and highly active — a great addition to community tanks.

  • Adaptable to a range of freshwater conditions.

Care Requirements:

  • pH: 6.5 – 7.8

  • GH: 4 – 10

  • KH: 1 – 5

  • Temperature: 22 – 28°C

  • Diet: Biofilm, algae, shrimp pellets, blanched vegetables, and fine powdered foods.

Breeding:
Pinocchio Shrimp are more challenging to breed than most freshwater shrimp. Their larvae require brackish water conditions to develop, making successful breeding uncommon in standard freshwater setups.

Livestock Disclaimer:
Shrimp are sold unsexed. Coloration and size may vary. Please acclimate carefully to avoid shock — we cannot accept responsibility for losses due to improper acclimation or unsuitable tank conditions.
