The Purple Nanashi Caridina is a rare and highly sought-after shrimp variety, admired for its striking deep purple to violet hues combined with unique patterns that make every individual stand out. Originating from selective breeding of Taiwan Bee lines, this shrimp is a true showcase piece for the discerning aquarist who values both rarity and beauty.

Care & Behaviour
As with other high-grade Caridina, Purple Nanashi require stable, pristine water conditions and thrive best in well-established, carefully maintained aquariums. They are peaceful and do well in species-only setups or with other selectively bred Caridina of similar care requirements. A heavily planted aquascape with mosses, hiding places, and biofilm growth provides the most natural and secure environment.

Parameters

  • Temperature: 20–24°C

  • pH: 5.5–6.5

  • GH: 4–6 dGH

  • KH: 0–1

  • TDS: 100–160 ppm

  • Tank size: 20L minimum, larger preferred for colony stability

Diet
These shrimp thrive on a varied diet of high-quality shrimp foods, blanched vegetables, and biofilm naturally present in a mature tank. Supplemental feeds like protein or mineral-based shrimp foods should be offered sparingly to maintain health and vibrant colouration.

Breeding
Breeding Purple Nanashi can be achieved under optimal conditions, though maintaining water stability is crucial. Females carry eggs for around 28–32 days before hatching. As with most Caridina, fry survival depends heavily on consistent parameters and a mature tank with ample biofilm.

Livestock Disclaimer
Shrimp are sold unsexed and shipped as mixed batches. We cannot guarantee sex ratios or exact patterning — natural variation between individuals and lines is normal. Please acclimate carefully; we cannot accept responsibility for losses caused by improper acclimation or unsuitable tank conditions.
